Belfast City Council Urged To Plant More Trees

Belfast City Council is being urged to plant more trees to support National Tree Week in November.

Green Party Councillor Georgina Milne made the call and praised the "knowledgeable and dedicated team who tend to trees within the city".

She said: "There are more than 60,000 park trees and 12,500 street trees within the Council boundary. However, there has been a drop in resources dedicated towards tree planting.

"I'm encouraging Belfast City Council to reverse that and direct additional resources towards a tree planting programme."

National Tree Week starts on 25 November and runs until 03 December.
