Repairs to the Claudy bridge are expected to take six months to complete.
The bridge was damaged by floods in August this year and temporary measures will be put in place during the works.
Sinn Féin MLA Caoimhe Archibald welcomed the announcement.
She said: "The commitment to keep the local community updated on progress was very welcome.
"An update was also provided on the Glenrandel bridge in Craigbane which was completely washed away in the floods. It is currently in the design phase to determine the works necessary and an estimated time-frame won't be possible until this is completed.
"Myself and Councillor Paul Fleming have been in regular contact with Roads Service regarding damage to roads and bridges in the Claudy, Park and Craigbane areas since the flooding and will continue to engage with agencies to ensure the residents' concerns are addressed."
