A new €2.1 million supported student accommodation development has opened in Cork.
Bishopsgrove is made up of 39 modern and secure purpose-built accommodation units close to Cork Institute of Technology (CIT).
The project allows young people who progressed well in homeless services or who are at risk of homelessness to avail of third level education.
Director of Housing and Community, Valerie O'Sullivan said: "This collaborative project between the Cork Foyer, TUSLA and Focus Ireland is the first model of its kind in Ireland and is helping to reduce homelessness and housing instability among young people and those leaving care."
Bishopsgrove is a sister service to the Cork Foyer at Blackpool which provides transitional accommodation and training to people, aged 18-25, who were homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
