Molloy Engineering has been selected to upgrade and improve a water treatment plant in Co Monaghan.
The work on the Threemilehouse Waste Water Treatment Plant is to begin soon and it is expected to take approximately nine weeks to complete.
Working in partnership with Monaghan County Council, Irish Water confirmed the upgrade is necessary to ensure the plant is environmentally compliant which will in turn limit the impact on the receiving waters.
The project involves the replacement of the existing rotating biological contactor, flow balancing, interconnecting pipework and associated structures/manholes.
Irish Water's Capital Programme Regional Lead John McElwaine said: "These proposed works will ensure all waste water treatment processes at the plant are in line with EPA standards and regulations. The upgrade works will improve the efficiency of the facility and allow for future growth in the capacity of the plant.
"Irish Water working in partnership with Monaghan County Council and the contractor would like to apologise to anyone affected by the works in advance and assure them all efforts will be made to minimise disruption."
