A housing association in Northern Ireland has launched its three year Energy and Sustainable Development Strategy to reduce the amount of energy used.
Choice Housing's strategy will continue to run until 31 March 2019 and demonstrates its commitment to energy and environmental management.
In 2016/17 the firm met 14 out of its 15 targets;
• Choice delivered a saving of approximately 7.3% on energy costs through effective procurement.
• The environmental standard BS8555 was achieved for its head offices.
• Choice has provided Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for homes where these are required, with its average energy rating now 75, which is significantly higher than the NI average of 60.
• The information and support Choice provides to its customers has been updated on its website, with the creation of an Energy Guide and numerous energy related leaflets.
• Choice held a series of energy roadshows in 2016 as part of Energy Week, with significant potential savings identified for its tenants.
