Sinn Féin has slammed the Planning Appeals Commission for refusing to overturn a decision for a student accommodation complex to be developed in north Belfast.
The party's housing spokesperson Carál Ní Chuilín called for the site in Donegall Street to be used to build new social homes.
She also said residents in the area may be forced to take legal action if the decision to construct the 10-storey, 620-bed development is not overturned.
She said: "Local residents are understandably furious at this decision given that organisations such as the UN, the Committee for the Administration of Justice and the Equality Commission have cited the critical lack of social housing and housing inequalities in this area and throughout North Belfast.
"Residents are determined this will not be the end of the matter and will be exploring all legal avenues available to oppose this decision."
