Sinn Fein has hit out at the developer who owns a significant part of the Moore Street Cultural Quarter in Dublin.
The party invited Hammersons to the Moore St Advisory Forum on several occasions, however they said they will not engage with Sinn Fein until after the appeal of the High Court decision on Moore St is complete.
Spokesperson on Culture and Heritage, and Caithoirleach of the Oieachtas Joint Committee on Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Peadar Tóibín TD said: "The problem with this is that whatever the result the decision maybe appealed. This means that in reality a significant section of the city, one with so much commercial and cultural potential will be locked into a under used, semi derelict, sterile state for another five or six years.
"The truth is it that is in the best interest of Hammersons' to work with the campaigns, the community and their elected representatives.
"Whatever commercial development they seek will run into difficulties without the necessary goodwill of all the stakeholders.
"Just in the last few weeks we have seen Dublin City Council unanimously approve the process to list five buildings in the Moore Street area."
