Fianna Fail is calling for repair works to a health centre in Donegal to be carried out immediately.

The facility in Quigley's Point was damaged by flooding last August.

The HSE confirmed the works are expected to be completed by April 2018, however TD Charlie McConalogue said it seems an "exceptionally long time to wait".

He said: "The damage caused to the health centre last summer has resulted in the cancellation of the satellite GP service, which serves local residents. This is causing a major upheaval for older people and people who are incapacitated as they find it incredibly difficult to access GP services. This is also increasing pressure on GP services in Moville.

"I am calling on the HSE to expedite the works so that a full service can be up and running in the next few weeks.

"I will continue to follow this up on the behalf of the local community with a view to having works here progressed without delay."
