The Minister for Office and Public Works is being urged to invest funding for flood defences for Arklow.
Fianna Fail TD, Stephen Donnelly, is to meet with Minister Kevin 'Boxer' Moran on Thursday, 11 January, to discuss Murrough and Arklow Coastal Defences.
Deputy Donnelly said: "For months now I've been working towards investment to protect Wicklow Town's Murrough, Arklow's North Beach protections, and flood defences for Arklow. As part of this I met in December with the OPW Minister, Kevin Boxer Moran. At that meeting he agreed to come to both Wicklow Town and Arklow to see what works are required.
"As the next step, I'll be asking the Minister for funding for an in-depth engineering report of the areas. This is a requirement for any new serious capital spend, which is badly needed."
