The Education Minister is being urged to clarify when construction work will continue on six school buildings following the collapse of construction firm Carillion.
The schools include Tyndall College, Carlow and the Carlow Institute of Further Education.
Sinn Féin spokesperson on Education, Kathleen Funchion TD, said that answers are needed from Minister Bruton.
She said:"Reports indicate that work has been postponed indefinitely at two sites, according to RTÉ News, and there are doubts over the status of others.
"Minister Bruton needs to seek clarification on this and ensure that there are no delays to the completion and provision of these works.
"Only last week reassurances were given that there would be no impact on the building works of these schools and last night the NDFA has released a statement placing responsibility with shareholders and funders to ensure the buildings are completed.
"This collapse of a private company in another jurisdiction having an impact on the completion of Irish public school buildings is the result of Public Private Partnership. Our schools cannot be at the mercy of the result of PPP when it goes wrong."
