Plans to proceed with the development of a Primary Care Centre in Drimnagh, Dublin, have been shelved.
The Health Service Executive (HSE) made the decision to cancel the plans.
Fianna Fáil Seanad Group Leader, Senator Catherine Ardagh, said she was disappointed over the decision.
She said: "It was confirmed in 2012 that a centre would be developed on Curlew Road in Drimnagh which has a population of tens of thousands of people.
"In information received by Fianna Fáil in 2015, the Department confirmed that planning for the centre was not completed in the required time frame for Public Private Partnership.
"Residents in Dublin 12 have been waiting for this project to proceed and since my election to the Seanad; I have continually raised this delay. The entire Drimagh community deserves the highest quality public services as much as any other area in the country.
"Regrettably, I was informed this week that a letter has been circulated by the HSE's Head of Services outlining our fear that the construction of Primary Care Centre in Drimnagh will not be going ahead.
"I have now called on the Minister for Health, Simon Harris to come before the Seanad and provide a thorough explanation of how a decision to cancel this project was reached."
