Sinn Fein has slammed the Housing Minister for failing to confirm whether or not any 'affordable' houses would be developed this year.
The party's housing spokesperson Eoin Ó Broin TD raised the issue with Minister Eoghan Murphy and called on him to outline a clear pathway and timeline as to how and when the homes will be delievered.
Mr Ó Broin said: "On the sites identified for affordable housing no building is yet taking place, some don't even have planning permission. The full details of the affordable housing programmes have not yet been developed.
"It is doubtful if any of these developments will start this year.
"Rebuilding Ireland is now well into its second year and Fine Gael has been in government for seven years. The much promised affordable rental and purchase homes have yet to materialise.
"It is clear that people waiting for affordable homes will have a lot longer to wait."
