Plans Announced To Develop School And College In L'Derry

The Department of Education is planning to develop a new school and college on the former Foyle College site in Co L'Derry.

Sinn Féin Education Spokesperson Karen Mullan welcomed the announcement and confirmed it is to be located on the Northland Road.

She said: "It's my understanding that the proposed site will be built for Ardnashee School & College which currently supports over 250 children with special educational needs.

"Sinn Féin have consistently made the case to both the Department and the Education Authority for extra resources and provision for special educational needs.

"I have requested a meeting with the Board of Governors at Foyle College to discuss proposals for the entire site previously occupied by Foyle College.

"Ulster University must also step up and exercise its option on the parcels of land at the Foyle College site which have been earmarked to progress the much-needed expansion of Magee."
