Sinn Fein has repeated its call for the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) to directly employ workers from construction firm Carillion.
The company recently collapsed and hundreds of worker are now uncertain about their future.
Sinn Féin Councillor Catherine Elattar attended a meeting with the NIHE and urged the firm to take on the workers.
She said: "This is a sensible proposal which can bring some certainty to workers and tenants alike.
"The collapse of Carillion has placed hundreds of workers in deep uncertainty about the future of their employment, and especially those employed under Housing Executive contracts with the firm.
"Heating and general maintenance for thousands of citizens and families in Housing Executive homes is provided through Carillion contracts.
"The protection of those employed through these contracts, and crucially the families living in homes dependent on this essential maintenance, must be the priority for the Housing Executive in the immediate future."
