The government must hold a Dáil vote on the final draft of the National Planning Framework (NPF), according to Sinn Féin.
The party's housing spokesperson Eoin Ó Broin TD said: "There were huge gaps in the last document. Namely on the North West of the country and there is a lot of vagueness on the North-South dimension of the plan. There must be much stronger all-Ireland focus especially in the context of the impact of Brexit.
"There is no emphasis on socio-economic disadvantage within the document. The drafters must be mindful of the impact of planning decisions and the potential socio-economic impacts.
"Sinn Féin is on the record stating that unless there is a significant change to the plan we will not be in a position to support it.
"It is also unclear as to what the procedure is for putting the NPF on a statutory footing. This has not been done before."
