The Government has been called to provide additional funding for road maintenance.
Sinn Féin TD for Sligo, Leitrim, North Roscommon, and South Donegal, Martin Kenny, made the call after the freezing temperatures left many roads is a "desperate state of disrepair".
He said: "While I commend the council workers for their tireless work in keeping primary routes gritted and clear of snow and ice, every effort must now be made to ensure all roads damaged by snow and ice are repaired.
"The main issue for councils is funding to repair and maintain these roads and I am calling on the government to provide local authorities with the funding required to repair all roads that have been damaged as a result of the recent cold snap. It is important that this funding would not be taken out of the Leader Programme as has happened in the past."
