NI Water is continuing to work on a sewer improvement project in Co Down.
A total of £220,000 is being invested in the scheme in Groomsport which will cut down the risk of out of sewer flooding and environmental pollution.
The work started in January on the Donaghadee Road and the project is expected to be completed in June.
A temporary road closure is currently in place on the Donaghadee Road, with vehicular access being maintained for residents and pedestrian access is available at all times.
The current road closure will remain in place until 29th March 2018, and works will then be suspended and the road re-opened for a short period over Easter. After Easter, work on the Donaghadee Road will recommence under a lane closure. During this time, two-way traffic will be maintained with the use of temporary traffic lights, with traffic able to access Groomsport Village from either direction. We currently anticipate that sewer laying on the Donaghadee Road will be completed by May 2018.
On completion of sewer laying on the Donaghadee Road, works will progress onto the A2 (Donaghadee Road), also under a lane closure for up to five weeks, and then will finally move into Springwell Park.
