Punch Consulting Engineers Appointed To Inis Oírr Pier Project

Punch Consulting Engineers have been appointed as the consulting engineers for work to improve Inis Oírr Pier on the Aran Islands.

With some €332,000 approved for Galway County Council to appoint the firm, Punch will carry out the design specification and prepare construction tender documents for the scheme.

Announcing the funding today, 13 April, Minister of State for the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands, Joe McHugh T.D., said: "The maintenance of sustainable island communities off our cost is a core element of my Department's work and safe access by sea is crucial for island communities.

"Today represents a big step forward for this important project, which is included in Project Ireland 2040, and demonstrates my Department's commitment to progressing this project."
