Donegal County Council has completed construction work on a €200,000 project to build the new Tadhg Culbert car park in Letterkenny.
The car park is located on the site of the former Fire Station on the High Road in Letterkenny, next to the Donegal County Museum. It provides 39 new car parking spaces, including 5 disabled parking spaces.
The works included appropriate surveys, demolition and removal of the Former Fire Station and Tower, construction of a new retaining structure, and surfacing works by local company Churchill Quarries. Public lighting was also designed and supplied by Airtricity.
The Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council Cllr Gerry McMonagle and Mayor of Letterkenny MD Cllr Jimmy Kavanagh officially opened the car park last Friday, 04 May.
Speaking at the launch Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council Cllr Gerry McMonagle said: "This new car park is a welcome addition to the infrastructure of Letterkenny. I would like to congratulate our own Council team of workers who were involved in the construction of this car park and I would especially like to say that I am delighted that this car park has been named in memory of one of our own colleagues the late Cllr Tadhg Culbert."
