The Minister for Health has been called to set out a detailed delivery plan to develop a new building for Holy Angels School in Carlow.
Fianna Fail Senator Jennifer Murnane O'Connor urged Minister Simon Harris to establish the plan after obtaining new information from the HSE which shows that it will make lands at Kelvin Grove available to Holy Angels School.
She said: "Holy Angels have been looking for a new school building for many years. The Government has put it on the long-finger and the children using the school have suffered since then. The current school is housed in prefabs and there simply isn’t enough space. The facilities aren’t up to standard and it's unfair that children have to endure such poor conditions.
"Holy Angles has been on the priority list for a new school building for over 5 years now. However the Government is yet to deliver on a new school building. One of the issues that management at the school have faced is trying to secure an adequate site for the new school building. This hurdle has now been overcome as the HSE have said that they will make land available at Kelvin Grove for the new school.
"Holy Angles can’t wait any longer as the current conditions in the school simply aren’t good enough."
