Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Education Thomas Bryne TD has slammed the Education Minister for "sidestepping" a question on the locations of the proposed 42 new schools.
In April Minister Bruton announced a new school building programme and committed to open 42 new schools by 2020.
He was asked to identify where the schools would be located during a meeting in the Dáil recently.
Deputy Byrne said: "I was astonished by the answer given by Minister Bruton in the Dáil. He sidestepped my question entirely and could not set out where a single one of these schools will be located.
"There is no substance whatsoever to the announcement made by Minister Bruton last month. It's ridiculous that no site has been selected for new schools that the Minister says will open in September of next year."
