A Dublin museum development at 14 Henrietta Street has been shortlisted in the Irish Architecture Awards 2018.
The awards are from The Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) and the museum is in contention for the public choice award.
Shaffrey Architects led the Dublin project that conserved and adapted the property for public use as a museum. The works were informed by new academic research and ongoing engagement and oral history interviews with the community and former residents.
The museum will bring to life the stories and history of the house and street including its beginnings in the mid 18th century and its one hundred years of Tenement life. Three floors of the house will offer visitors the opportunity to journey through time, exploring immersive rooms, exhibition films and soundscapes.
It will officially open in September, but advanced tours are currently available on Fridays and Saturdays.
