The Housing Minister has been urged to review the social housing output after it was revealed only half of promised social housing was delivered in 2017.
Housing policy analysts Mel Reynolds and Lorcan Sirr revealed that 386 Part 8 Local Authority social housing units were delivered in 2017, half of the number previously stated by the Department of Housing. Statistics released earlier this year claimed 780 units had been delivered.
Sinn Féin's Housing spokesperson Eoin Ó Broin TD has urged the Minister to review the "deeply worrying" output.
He said: "Minister Murphy must urgently review the funding, capacity and targets for Local Authorities to ensure that Part 8 new builds are the main mechanism for social housing delivery."
