Sinn Féin's Imelda Munster has hit out at Irish Water over the ongoing pipe problems at Staleen Water Plant in Donore, Meath.
The TD for Louth and East Meath criticised Irish Water and the government for failing to upgrade and replace the water mains.
"In September last year, Irish Water announced that a contract had to be signed to expand, upgrade, and replace the rising main.
"They said that work was to begin before the end of last year. They failed to deliver."
The announcement came after the same mains burst last year causing water outages for more than 100,000 people in Drogheda, South Louth and East Meath.
Deputy Munster added: "They also committed to come to an agreement with the landowner to ensure access to the pipe should there be another fault. They haven't delivered on that either.
"We need assurances that this will be the last time this happens."
