Coffey Northumbrian is to carry out water mains upgrades in the Tullow Street area of Carlow town.
The works, which begin on Monday 18 June, will replace approximately 600 metres of old mains along Tullow Street to ensure better water quality and pressure.
Further replacement work will also take place between the Potato Market and the junction of Barrack Street.
The project is part of Irish Water's four year national Leakage Reduction Programme.
Mark O'Duffy, Leakage Reduction Programme regional lead, said: "Replacing these old water mains in Carlow will reduce leakage and result in a major improvement in water quality and security of supply for our customers in the area."
Work is expected to be completed by late August.
