A consultation is to take place over proposals to develop a new bridge across the River Suir in Waterford City.
The structure will provide a new sustainable transport link between the North Quays and South Quays, promoting the further development of the City and pave the way for development of the North Quays Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) lands.
The bridge's design will be developed, refined and modified as a result of consultation, which is scheduled to be held at The Granary building, WIT School of Architecture, Merchants Quay from 4pm – 8pm on Wednesday, 18 July.
Other elements will include public consultation and submissions and feedback from stakeholders; further detailed investigations, including environmental, land, and geotechnical surveys; ongoing refinement of the design and assessments by the various environmental and technical specialists.
Staff from Waterford City and County Council and Roughan & O'Donovan Consulting Engineers project design team will be on hand at the consultation event to answer queries and provide information on the project.
The council stated: "Over the coming months the Project Team will continue to undertake all of the various environmental and technical assessments with the objectives of avoiding, reducing and remedying potential impacts.
"This process will culminate in the publication of the Statutory Orders and the applicable environmental reports in accordance with the relevant legislation for the development consent process."
