Work has started to install new water mains in Kinsale, Cork.

Irish Water is working in partnership with Cork County Council to replace 400 metres of aging water mains as part of its Leakage Reduction Programme.

Installing the new water main will ensure a safe supply of water to St Multose School and the local community centre, reducing the risk of contamination and providing a safer overall drinking water supply.

Steven Blennerhassett, Leakage Reduction Programme Regional Lead, commented: "This project is essential in providing a safe, secure and reliable water supply for this area of Kinsale now and into the future. We would like to thank the community for their patience and support while this work is being carried out and assure them that we will work with our contractors to keep any disruption or inconvenience to a minimum."
