Civil engineering company ShareRidge is to begin work to replace 1.7km of old water mains in Killaloe and Bridgetown, Co Clare.
High density polyethylene (plastic) pipes will be installed by the company to provide a more secure, reliable and efficient water supply to customers. In addition, the project includes laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers' property boundaries and connecting them to the customers' water supply.
Works will take place in Millstream Estate, Killaloe (500m) and in Bridgetown Fahy (1,200m). Completion is scheduled for October.
Alan Morrissey, Irish Water's Networks Programme Regional Lead, said: "These projects are essential in providing a safe, secure and reliable water supply for Killaloe and Bridgetown.
"We would like to thank the community and businesses for their patience and support while this work is being carried out and assure them that we will work with our contractor, Shareridge Ltd. to keep any disruption or inconvenience to a minimum."
