Irish Water is to present plans to develop a new wastewater treatment plant for the Falcarragh Sewerage Scheme.
The firm is hosting a public information evening at Ionad Acmhainne, Baila an Athá, Ballina Estate, Falcarragh, on Monday, 01 October from 5.30-7.30pm.
In a statement Irish Water said: "We are working to end the unacceptable practice of discharging poorly treated wastewater into Ballyness Bay by developing a new wastewater treatment plant as part of the Falcarragh Sewerage Scheme. The existing sewerage works were originally constructed in 1959 and consist of primary treatment only which is currently overloaded. This project will provide a modern sewerage scheme for Falcarragh."
