Plans Revealed For New Wastewater Treatment Plant In Co Clare

Irish Water has revealed its plans to develop a new wastewater treatment plant in Liscannor, Co Clare.

The plant will help end the discharge of untreated wastewater and enhance local development potential.

The project is being delivered in partnership with Clare County Council.

A drop-in information evening will take place on Wednesday, 03 October from 5pm to 7.30pm in Liscannor Community Centre, detailing the plans for the project.

"The development of a new wastewater treatment scheme in Liscannor will help to improve water quality, enhance of the area's amenity value and will act as a platform for social and economic development. This project will also help ensure that the water quality standards set out in relevant legislation will be achieved," said Joe Kennedy, Irish Water's Infrastructure Regional Lead.

A planning application is expected to be lodged with the council later this year. Subject to planning permission, construction will commence in late 2019 and be complete by summer 2021.
