Sinn Fein has welcomed An Bord Pleanála's decision to reject plans for a pedestrian plaza to be developed at College Green in Dublin.
However, the party has called for the proposals to be revised.
Imelda Muster TD said: "There are serious problems in Dublin with congestion, and we have to ensure that traffic is managed. This means prioritising public transport and ensuring that we don’t create bottlenecks.
"College Green has been subject to ongoing disruption since the Luas Cross-City began operations at the end of last year.
"Any further plans to reroute traffic must be subject to rigorous planning to ensure that we don’t make matters worse in other parts of the city.
"We look forward to revised plans for the proposed plaza down the line."
Mary Lou McDonald TD also said the plans failed to address the "real" impact to traffics.
She said: "There has already been ongoing disruption in Dublin since the Luas Cross-City was introduced in December.
"College Green in particular has been something of a nightmare for commuters, and Dublin Bus services have been seriously impacted."
