Farrans Construction is to start work to replace old and aging water mains in Donegal.

The work, which is to begin on Monday, 22 October, is to replace 1.5 kilometres of problematic water mains in Ballybegley, Newtowncunningham. The old, damaged pipes will be replaced with modern, high density polyethylene (plastic) pipes.

The water main renewal works are being carried out as part of Irish Water's national Leakage Reduction Programme. T

Declan Cawley from Irish Water, said: "The benefit of these works to customers are significant and will include better water pressure, better water quality and a more secure supply of water. Residents and businesses in the areas to benefit from the planned improvements have been notified and customers can phone Irish Water on Callsave 1850 278 278 if they have any further questions about the project."
