The Ballynameen Bridge in Claudy, Co Londonderry, is to reopen next week following major reconstruction works.

The bridge was damaged by floods in August 2017, and has undergone £800,000 repair works.

Work involved partial demolition and full reconstruction of two spans of the bridge and the spandrel and parapet walls. The reconstruction also includes widening the carriageway and footway along the length of the bridge.

One lane of the bridge will open to traffic from 31 October to two way traffic flow.

Further completion works will still be ongoing.

It is anticipated that the bridge will reopen to normal two-way traffic before the end of November.
