Approximately 93% of respondents to a housing survey said that they want the government to do more to tackle the housing crisis, including the construction of more social and affordable homes.
According to the MyHome.ie Consumer Sentiment Survey, 60% of respondents also expect house prices to rise by 5% or more in the next 12 months.
The survey of some 1,700 people, also found:
• 42% of people expect house prices to rise by up to 5%;
• 18% believe they will rise by between 5 and 10%;
• and 4% expect them to rise by over 10%.
Managing Director of MyHome.ie., Angela Keegan, said that the results of the survey should cause concern for the government, as the Taoiseach has said that his government would be judged on how it deals with the housing crisis.
