Phase One Of Dolphin House Regeneration Project Complete

Construction News Image
Phase 1 of the Dolphin House Regeneration Project in Dublin has been completed, with residents expected to move in shortly.

An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, TD, and Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government, Eoghan Murphy, TD, visited the site last week, 16 November, to celebrate the milestone.

The development consists of 63 refurbished units and 37 new build units, which includes 91 apartments and nine houses.

The homes will be a mixture of 40 one-bed units, 41 two-bed units and 19 three-bed units.

Speaking at the official opening, the Taoiseach said: "For each family and individual, getting the keys to their new home is a momentous day. This is an important redevelopment project for Dublin 8, which will have a very positive impact on the Dolphin's Barn area and its community.

"The Government is investing significant resources in this social housing project; more than 200 people will benefit from Phase 1 of the development. Developments like this one are replicated across the city and the country. Brick by brick we are rebuilding our housing sector. We're making significant progress; about 20,000 new homes will be built this year, and that will rise to 25,000 in the new year."

Minister Murphy added: "I am pleased to visit this development today which will provide much needed homes for so many families and individuals. I want to congratulate the residents and the Regeneration Board of Dolphin House for their steadfast commitment to this project. The €26 million invested in this scheme clearly shows the dedication of this Government to revitalising the area. It will enhance the living conditions in Dolphin House as well as providing much needed housing in Dublin 8.

"This Government is committed to increasing the supply of social housing and these 100 new homes are testament to this. This year some 8,000 social homes will be added to the social housing stock by Local Authorities and Approved housing bodies and next year we will see that increase to 10,000 homes for families/individuals on council housing waiting lists. That’s progress."
