Faulty water mains are to be replaced in Tullaghanmore, Kilbeggan, to help reduce leakage in the network.
Approximately 4km of water mains will be replaced with plastic pipes along the L1222 and the L1223 at the Loughan Crossroads.
The work is expected to be complete by May 2019.
The L1222 will be closed to public traffic from January to March 2019 and the L1223 will be closed from March to May 2019.
Traffic diversions will be clearly signposted.
The project is being delivered on behalf of Irish Water and Westmeath County Council.
Commenting on the works, Derek Deignan, Irish Water Leakage Reduction Programme Regional Lead, said: "The replacement of these ageing water mains in Tullaghanmore, Kilbeggan will improve security of supply for local residents and businesses alike. Replacing the existing water mains with new modern pipes will provide a long-term solution to ensure a safe and secure water supply is delivered to customers. Irish Water understands this type of work can be inconvenient and will ensure our work crews make every effort to minimise any disruption these works may cause."
