Four projects in County Cavan have landed a major funding boost through the Department of Rural and Community Development.
The projects were successful under measure two of the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) 2018, securing €715,539 in funding .
They include:
• Upgrade and extension of walking trails at Dun a Ri Forest Park and link to Kingscourt town (€144,329)
• Development of walking and cycling trails at Killykeen Forest Park, Cavan (€177,153)
• Development of Cavan Town Railway Greenway (€200,000)
• Development of walking trail link to Golden Mile, Mullagh (€194,057).
Chief Executive of Cavan County Council, Mr Tommy Ryan said: "Cavan County Council has invested significant energy and resources in developing strategic plans to map out the sustainable development of our tourism and community infrastructure in recent years to ensure we are well-positioned to access available funds, and we are now reaping the rewards of these efforts.
"These projects will add significantly to the Cavan Tourism offering while also providing a wonderful resource for the enjoyment of the people of the county."
Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Cllr Madeleine Argue added: "These projects will enhance the quality of life for our citizens and make Cavan an even more attractive county to visit, and I applaud the efforts of all who have contributed towards securing these funds."
