Ballycroy National Park in County Mayo is to extend its grounds with the acquisition of new forests.

Coillte is transferring a number of its forests into the ownership of the park, with a completion date expected in 2022.

Forests in Muingaghel, Derry Lower, Derry Upper, Tubrid More, Tubrid Beg, Altnabrocky, Tawnynahulty, Fiddaunnageeroge, Letterkeen, Lettertrask, Srahmore, Leamadartaun and Srahrevagh will all be transferred.

When officially transferred, the land will be managed by the National Park and Wildlife Service.
