GMC Utilities Group is to carry out work in Colp, Co Meath, to improve the local water supply.
The contractor will replace 800 metres of ageing mains with new modern pipes along the Dublin Road R132 between the Beamore Road and Drogheda Road.
Any existing lead connections will also be replaced as part of the work.
The work is being delivered on behalf of Irish Water and Meath County Council under the utility's national Leakage Reduction Programme.
Derek Deignan, Regional Lead on the Leakage Reduction Programme, said: "The replacement of these ageing water mains in Colp, Co Meath will improve security of supply for local residents and businesses alike. Replacing the existing water mains with new modern pipes will provide a long-term solution to ensure a safe and secure water supply is delivered to customers."
The project is expected to be completed by March 2019.
