Structural issues have been identified on Stonepark Bridge in Meelick, Co Clare, forcing a weight restriction to be put in place.
Significant corrosion and concrete spalling was detected on the deck of the bridge, following a detailed assessment by Environment and Engineering Consultants.
A temporary weight restriction of 7.5 tonnes has been placed on the bridge until the necessary repairs are carried out.
Clare County Council is expediting a plan for works on the bridge, which include design, tendering a contract and the commencement of repairs.
The work is expected to be completed by late March 2019.
