A project to upgrade the existing all-weather pitch at Corduff Sports Centre in Fingal has been given a significant funding boost.
Funds of €150,000 was allocated to the centre under the Sports Capital Grants (SCP) programme.
This will go towards the upgrade and extension of the centre's all-weather pitch, bringing it up to FIFA approved standard and enabling competitive matches to be played.
Fingal County Council applied for the funding package to the Department of Transport, Tourism & Sport in 2018.
This funding represents the first set of allocation under the 2018 round of SCP and relates to projects previously deemed invalid under the 2017 round of the programme, which has now been corrected.
Director of Operations, David Storey, said: "This is welcome news for Corduff Sports Centre and Fingal County Council. With these extra funds, we will be able to ensure that the community have top quality standard all-weather pitches available for use all year round."
Director of Housing and Community, Margaret Geraghty, added: "These extra funds for Corduff Sports Centre will allow for the improvements of the all-weather pitch, which will see more people in the community having the opportunity to use these great facilities on their doorstep. The allocation of this money shows that Fingal County Council is committed to supporting local teams and sports in the county."
