Kildare County Council has secured a prestigious award with Engineers Ireland.

The local authority was presented the award of CPD Accredited Employer by the Director General of Engineers Ireland, Ms Caroline Spillane.

Ms Spillane, who presented the award during a visit to Nass on Friday 25 January, commended the council on the number of significant infrastructural developments being undertaken in Kildare. The council has either been undertaking the works, or engaging design teams and contractors to deliver on schemes of national and regional importance.

Mr Peter Carey, Chief Executive, who received the award on behalf of the council, said: "One section of the council (the National Roads Office) had already achieved the standard. I could see how achieving the standard across the organisation ensures that standards are high and consistent. Being CPD accredited also recognises professionalism and promotes work engagement and commitment. Throughout the process Engineers Ireland supported our CPD committee in the preparation, implementation and audit process. I want to acknowledge the work of the CPD committee who drove the process on behalf of the council."

The CPD Accredited Employer standard has now been achieved by over 160 leading engineering employers.
