The Valley Leisure Centre in Newtownabbey has secured funding of £500,000 to transform its health suite.
The project will involve replacing the Jacuzzi, Steam Room and Sauna with the addition of new ventilation, heated loungers and a monsoon shower.
Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council is providing the funds for the project.
Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Paul Michael said: "I am delighted the Council is once again investing in the Borough's leisure facilities. This is part of our ongoing commitment to improve the sporting facilities available to our residents as well as their health and wellbeing. It is approaching a year and a half on from the launch of our MORE leisure membership and I think it is fantastic that we are ensuring our facilities are state-of-the-art for our residents to enjoy."
Work will begin on the project in early spring and is scheduled for completion by spring/early summer 2019.
The health suite upgrade is part of an ongoing investment in the Council's leisure facilities, which recently facilitated the resurfacing and redesign of the 3G soccer pitches at the centre.
Further scheduled works include a £400k modernisation of the reception areas at Antrim Forum, Sixmile and the Valley, as well as the installation of new self-service kiosks and other technologies.
