A major road resurfacing scheme has been announced for a small village in County Down.
The £450,000 works will deliver improvements across a 2.6-kilometre section on the A2 Portavogie Road in Ballyhalbert.
The Department for Infrastructure commenced work on the scheme today, 14 February, with initial preparatory work taking place.
A rolling lane closure with temporary traffic lights will be in place between the road's junction with Bush Road and its junction with Warnock's Road from 15 March to facilitate these works.
Main construction work is expected to begin on the scheme on Monday 18 March, with a daily weekday road closure scheduled between 8am and 5pm throughout.
The scheme is expected to be complete by 05 April 2019.
