A project has been launched to improve the water supply and reduce leakage in Ballina, Co Mayo.
Farrans Construction is delivering a water mains upgrade on a 750-metre section of the Sligo Road.
Irish Water is completing the project in partnership with Mayo County Council, as part of its National Leakage Reduction Programme.
The utility's Leakage Reduction Programme Regional Lead, Dave Murphy said: "The works will involve the decommissioning and replacement of water mains and include laying water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers' property boundaries and connecting them to the customer's water supply. Where the existing service connections on the public side are lead these will be replaced as part of this improvement work."
This project is expected to be completed in April 2019.
