A number of events have been hosted across south Dublin for Engineers Week 2019, with students of all ages turning out in full force.

Engineers Week, held from 02-08 March this year, is a week-long festival of nationwide events to engage primary and secondary students and promote engineering as a future career.

Approximately 1,786 students across the county took part in events hosted by South Dublin County Council, PM Group, Xilinx and Vilicom.

Events ranged from listening to industry visitors to taking part in a "Rocket Launch", with notable guests such as Shirley McDonald of Engineers Ireland and Sean Keating, CEO of Vilicom.

The keynote speech at the Opening Ceremony was delivered by Donagh Kelly, Group Deputy CEO KN circet Group and founder of KN Group.

Other key events included a "hands-on" learning activity based in the advanced Xilinx plant in Citywest, a 'Women in Engineering' seminar, three engineering adventure roadshows at Tallaght Stadium and six construction workshops for primary schools using LEGO.
