South Dublin County Council has announced funding of €4.409 million for local roads and footpaths in 2019.
The Annual Road Works Programme outlines where the council will invest the funds, including projects on the Nangor Road in Clondalkin and the Ballinascorney Road (R114) in Lucan.
This year's programme represents a 12% increase in spending when compared to the 2018 funding.
The main features of the investment programme include:
• €1.095m for the Clondalkin Area
• €912k for the Lucan Area;
• €600k for Tallaght Central;
• €548k for Tallaght South;
• €679k for the Rathfarnham Area;
• €575k for Templeogue-Terenure.
Michael Mulhern, South Dublin Council Council's Director of Land Use, Planning and Transportation, said: "We are very happy to deliver this programme of works and announce the 12% increase in overall spending. Roads and footpaths that are well-maintained reduce journey times for our citizens and, crucially, are safer for us all to travel on. This increase shows the Council's commitment to promoting healthier lifestyles and delivering the highest possible standards for our citizens and anyone visiting our County."
