The new South Stand has opened at Tallaght Stadium in Dublin, bringing the capacity to 8,000.
Mayor of South Dublin County, Cllr Mark Ward, officially opened the stand on Sunday 24 March ahead of Republic of Ireland under-21's opening UEFA European Championships qualifier against Luxembourg.
The new stand was built by ABM Construction, adding to the stadium's continuous development since it first welcomed fans in 2009.
Tallaght Stadium currently provides the home ground for all Shamrock Rovers' games in the Airtricity League and has hosted a range of top events, including the Special Olympics' Opening Ceremony in 2018.
Plans are also in place for another new stand at the ground which will bring the capacity to 10,000. South Dublin County Council commissioned a further feasibility report from Cooney Architects in 2018 that explored the option of developing a new North Stand.
The report also looked at developing improved press facilities and seating as well as additional corporate facilities on a new second floor to be developed in the existing Main Stand.
It is anticipated that this will be progressed in line with the Part 8 process this year.
