Work is underway in Portlaoise, Co Laois, to replace faulty water mains prone to frequent bursts.
The project involves replacing approximately 344 metres of aged cast iron and problematic water mains with high density polyethylene (plastic) pipes on St Brigid's Place and Parkview.
Irish Water is delivering the works in partnership with Laois County Council as part of its national Leakage Reduction Programme.
When complete, the new mains will reduce leakage and improve water pressure on the network. Operational and maintenance costs will also be reduced.
The works are due for completion by May 2019.
