A €1.1 million wastewater network improvement project is progressing across County Offaly, with work scheduled to begin in Tullamore.
A 6km section of the town's sewer network will be upgraded as part of the project.
The works will address the structural defects in the antiquated wastewater network, reducing the likelihood of sewer collapses and blockages and reducing potential sewer flooding and odour issues.
Irish Water and Offaly County Council are carrying out the works using innovative non-dig technology to reduce impact and disruption.
The project team will clean the network and undertake CCTV surveys before upgrading the section.
The works are due for completion by summer 2019.
